Kalle Murto supports Mamec’s internal development through his Master’s thesis
At Mamec, developing new talent is an important part of the company’s culture. Kalle Murto joined the company in April to complete his Master’s thesis, which supports the implementation of Mamec’s new information system and helps develop the company’s internal processes.
Originally from Paimio, Kalle Murto is currently studying Industrial Engineering and Management at Tampere University, specialising in Strategic Technology and Project Management.
Engineering has long felt like a natural career path for Murto. He has always been interested in technology, and mathematics was one of his strongest subjects throughout school. The opportunity to complete his Master’s thesis at Mamec immediately caught his attention, as he was already familiar with the company as a manufacturer of industrial mixers and pumps.
“However, I wasn’t very familiar with the company’s precision engineering and automation expertise. Since joining, I’ve gained a much better understanding of how advanced Mamec’s mixing solutions are and how carefully they are engineered to meet each customer’s specific process requirements. Every industrial mixing application has its own unique demands.”
Murto says he felt welcome from the very beginning, despite joining the company as a Master’s thesis student.
“I quickly noticed what a positive working atmosphere there is here. It’s easy to ask questions and talk to anyone in the organisation. The onboarding process was thorough, and I had the opportunity to get to know both the different departments and the people behind them. It gave me a clear understanding of how the company operates and how everyone’s work contributes to the whole.”
Improving processes and ways of working
Murto’s Master’s thesis is closely linked to Mamec’s ongoing information system project.
“It involves much more than just installing new software. It also requires new ways of working, updated processes, and consistent operating practices across the organisation. While the system supplier is responsible for the technical implementation, there’s a great deal of internal development needed to ensure the system supports the way we work.”
As part of his thesis, Murto is working closely with different departments and gaining a broad understanding of Mamec’s operations. Looking ahead, he hopes to build a career focused on developing organisations and improving business processes.
“That’s exactly what this project is about. The goal is to improve day-to-day operations, reduce unnecessary information handling, and eliminate waste from our processes. The benefits are tangible for both employees and the business as a whole. That’s the kind of development work I want to be involved in.”
How does Murto describe himself as a colleague?
“I’d say I’m hardworking and enjoy having plenty to do. I also want to do my job properly, so I like to understand things thoroughly before putting them into practice.”
Outside work, Murto enjoys spending time on the water and staying active.
“I spend a lot of time boating and fishing in the Turku archipelago. I also enjoy a variety of sports, including skiing and snowboarding during the winter, and padel, football, and other outdoor activities in the summer. I like to keep things varied.”
