Tua Wikström strengthens Mamec with extensive industrial and process expertise

Mamec welcomed a new Production Engineer to its manufacturing team in April. Tua Wikström brings broad industrial experience, a strong technical background, and a passion for continuous improvement, helping ensure customer orders move efficiently from planning to delivery.

Originally from Porvoo and now living in Lohja, Tua Wikström joined Mamec in April as a Production Engineer. Her career in engineering was inspired by a natural aptitude for mathematics and an early interest in technology. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical automation engineering and a Master’s degree in wood processing technology, and has built her career across several industrial sectors.

“Almost all of my professional experience has been in manufacturing. I’ve worked in the pulp and paper industry, spent ten years in the pharmaceutical sector, and most recently in the process industry. I’ve always enjoyed working in a factory environment, where continuous improvement is closely connected with practical day-to-day production.”

At Mamec, Wikström is responsible for coordinating the production process for customer orders, ensuring that each project progresses smoothly through manufacturing.

“Once a customer order is received, I make sure everything is in place for efficient production. That includes ensuring the availability of raw materials, coordinating the necessary support functions, and monitoring each stage of the manufacturing process. I also help resolve any technical challenges that may arise along the way.”

Continuous improvement as a mindset

Industrial mixers were already familiar to Wikström through her previous roles in the pulp, paper, and process industries. Moving from the customer side to the manufacturer has been a natural next step, and she feels her expertise is an excellent match for her new role.

“My greatest strengths have always been developing processes, production, products, and my own professional skills. Mamec is currently experiencing strong growth, so alongside the technical work we’re continuously improving our operations and working methods.”

At Mamec, Wikström has been especially impressed by the high level of expertise throughout the organisation.

“There are incredibly skilled and versatile professionals here. The atmosphere is very positive, with everyone working together toward shared goals. New employees are genuinely welcomed and quickly become part of the team.”

While she enjoys meeting new people and working collaboratively, she also appreciates her naturally introverted side, which helps her focus on demanding technical documentation and analytical tasks.

Outside work, Wikström maintains an active lifestyle through swimming, yoga, and cycling, and enjoys spending time in nature.

“My goal is to visit every national park in Finland, and I’m already more than halfway there. I also enjoy foraging for mushrooms and occasionally dye yarn using natural colours made from plants, fungi, and organic materials. I use the yarn to design and create handmade crafts. Music is another important part of my life – I listen to a wide variety of genres, attend concerts and festivals, and also enjoy singing as a solo vocalist and taking singing lessons.”
